MARIN CAMFT

The Kristina M. Carey LMFT Scholarship Fund

Marin CAMFT has renamed its Scholarship Program in honor of Kristina Carey, an active Marin CAMFT member who died in February 2017. This scholarship is granted to several pre-licensed clinicians in Marin County each year.

The Marin CAMFT Scholarship committee is happy to announce that we will be offering three Kristina M. Carey Scholarships. We will award one scholarship to a Trainee MFT, one to an Associate MFT, and one to either an MFT Trainee or MFT Associate who identifies as belonging to an underrepresented group in the mental health field (example: BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse). The amount of each scholarship is $2,500.00.

This is the 27th year that Marin CAMFT will be offering scholarships. They reflect the enthusiasm, generosity and commitment of the chapter's membership to encourage and support future members of our profession.

Eligibility for the scholarships:

  • Be a current member of this local Marin CAMFT chapter [this is free]. (Additionally, free trainings are offered, along with prelicensed group support).
  • Be a current member of State CAMFT (there is a cost for this membership, at a reduced rate for students).
  • Be a trainee or associate living in Marin, and/or enrolled in a Marin County college, and/or be a trainee or associate at a Marin County agency or program.

There are no restrictions on the use of these funds and we have endeavored to make the application process as simple as possible.

A W-9 tax form must be completed by each scholarship recipient and a 1099 tax form will be issued.

Application submission is followed by an interview. Scholarship application forms become available on November 15th each year (see below for the applications). This year, acceptance of applications closes on January 31, 2024.

Interviews for scholarship will be held in March 2024 (date to be determined).

The 2024 Scholarship Application is now available!

Please complete the application in its entirety, attach the requested 4 documents, and email to our Scholarship Committee Chair using the email address listed at the bottom of page 1.
