Description:

Join Sonalee Rashatwar (they/them), LCSW MEd, popularly known as The Fat Sex Therapist on Instagram, to learn how to integrate politicized concepts of body positivity into your clinical work. This talk covers issue areas including fat queering the body, the white supremacist origins of fatphobia, and fat sex shame as a unique clinical issue.

Goals:

Participants will be able to: 

  1. Locate 3 ways fatphobia is communicated through common sayings
  2. Explain 2 ways internalized fatphobia impacts sexual function
  3. Evaluate a client's true desires beneath the urge to lose weight


    Presenter:Sonalee Rashatwar

    Sonalee Rashatwar (they/them) LCSW MEd is an award-winning clinical social worker, sex therapist, adjunct lecturer, and grassroots organizer. Based in Philly (licensed in NJ and PA), they are a superfat queer bisexual non-binary therapist and co-owner of Radical Therapy Center, specialized in treating sexual trauma, diet trauma, racial or immigrant trauma, and South Asian family abuse, while offering fat positive sexual healthcare.

    Attendance at the live event and completion of the evaluation qualifies for 2 hours of Continuing Education (2 CEUs).

    • Time: 12 noon to 2 pm Pacific
    • Cost: Free for Marin CAMFT members and reciprocal members, $20 for non-members.

    • Continuing Education: This workshop meets the qualifications for the number of CEU hours for continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LEPs and LPCCs as stated above. These CEUs will be provided by Marin CAMFT (CAMFT Provider # 56895), which is approved by CAMFT to sponsor CE for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs. We regret that at this time we are not able to provide CE units for Licensed Psychologists. Participants must attend the full session and complete the evaluation at the end to receive CE completion certificate. Marin CAMFT maintains responsibility for this program and its contents.     • Continuing Education Goal: Marin CAMFT is committed to offering continuing education courses to train LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs to treat any client in an ethically and clinically sound manner based upon current accepted standards of practice. Course completion certificates will be available to those who attend the real-time presentation, and are provided at the conclusion of the training and upon submission of the participant's completed evaluation. 
    • Refund Policy: Our refund policy requires a $20 processing fee, therefore refunds are not available for this program, as the maximum purchase price is $20. Please email the CE Director with any questions.

    • Grievance Procedure: Marin CAMFT will respond to complaints in a reasonable, ethical and timely manner, when submitted by program attendees in writing to the CE Director.
