Short Description
Psychotherapist specializing in teens, tweens, and parenting challenges
Description of Practice
I understand that finding the right therapist can be overwhelming. It takes a lot of strength to begin the process of therapy and I applaud you for taking the first step. Entering into a therapeutic relationship is all about building trust. I provide a relaxed, non-judgmental, and compassionate atmosphere in which you can safely explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I truly want to get to know who you are and how we can work together to reach your goals, work on changing behaviors that are no longer suiting your needs, and modify unhealthy thinking styles.
I offer an integrative approach to client-centered therapy, using humanistic and cognitive behavioral techniques. This means I adapt my counseling style to your specific needs as we focus on talking through and altering what you are concerned about.
I see teens and young adults for a variety of issues including: anxiety, depression, peer conflict, school performance, eating disorders, self-harm, grief, life transitions, gender identity, and adjustment disorder. The teen and emerging adult years are full of life transitions - some more complicated than others. Therapy is safe space, free of judgement, that can allow individuals to explore effective ways to navigate some of the more difficult obstacles that may arise. I believe in working collaboratively with parents, families, school counselors, pediatricians, and others to provide an optimum level of care. Adolescent years can feel lonely, even when you are not alone. Knowing you have someone supporting you can make all the difference.
